Knowing the county is part of the specification
Snow load, frost depth and building code all change across our service area, and Albany County is not the same problem as the county next to it. Footing depth, roof structure, fastener pattern and snow retention are decided by where a building actually sits, not by a standard applied everywhere.
The permitting matters too. New York sets the code, but the town enforces it, and what each building department wants to see differs. We handle the permit and the inspections as part of the job.

Yes, and it is a good share of what we do here. Cohoes, Watervliet, Green Island and the older parts of Colonie have dense pre-war housing where roofs, gutters and trim all tend to come due at the same time. Those buildings are close together and often have limited access, which changes how a job is staged but not whether we take it on.
It is the roof failure we get called about most in this county. The pattern is heat escaping into the attic, snow melting on the upper roof, and that meltwater refreezing at the cold overhang until it forms a dam that holds standing water against the roof. The permanent fix is usually attic insulation and ventilation rather than roofing, which is why we look at both before quoting.
They are among the more demanding in the region, and several of the older village districts add design review on top of the standard permit. Requirements differ between Bethlehem, Guilderland, Colonie and the city jurisdictions. We handle the application and the inspections, and knowing which department wants what is part of why that matters here.
Yes. Berne, Knox, Westerlo and Rensselaerville are all in our area. Those properties sit higher than the valley, take more snow, and often have outbuildings and barns alongside the house, which suits the range of work we do.
