What we do

Roofing, Remodeling and Carpentry Services

Ten services under one contractor, across six counties in New York, Vermont and Massachusetts.

In short

We are a general contractor whose specialism is roofing, and metal and slate in particular. The rest of what we do is the work a house needs from people who are already up there and already know how it is put together.

Most contractors pick a lane. They do asphalt roofs, or they do kitchens, and if you need both you hire twice and hope the two crews talk to each other. We do the roof and the room underneath it, which means one person is accountable when the two have to meet.

That matters more often than it sounds. A roof leak that has been running for a season is rarely just a roof job by the time anyone looks at it. There is usually rotted decking, damaged trim, a ceiling to make good and sometimes flooring underneath. Splitting that across a roofer, a carpenter and a painter is how a two week job becomes a two month one.

We work across Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady counties in New York, Bennington County in Vermont, and Berkshire County in Massachusetts.

Questions

About how we work

Yes. Roofing, carpentry, remodeling and exterior work are all done by our own people. That is the reason we can take on a job where the roof and the room underneath it both need attention, without you having to hire twice and coordinate between two companies.

That is usually the cheaper way to do it. Roof, gutters and fascia frequently fail on the same schedule, particularly on neighbourhoods built in the same few years. Doing them in one visit means one set of staging, one mobilisation and one clean-up rather than three.

Metal and slate roofing. Those are the two materials with the least tolerance for a poor detail and the fewest contractors willing to take them on, and they set the standard the rest of our work is held to.

No. We come out, look at the actual condition of the roof or the space, and give you a written estimate at no cost and with no obligation. If we think the job does not need doing yet, we will tell you that instead.
